The examination measures knowledge and understanding of material typically taught in a one-semester, three-credit, lower-level undergraduate course in anatomy and physiology. The content of the examination corresponds with course offerings such as Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology II, General Anatomy and Physiology II, Human Anatomy and Physiology II, Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology II, and Integrated Human Anatomy and Physiology II. The examination is based on material usually presented in the second course of a two-course sequence in anatomy and physiology. The examination measures knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of the integrative mechanisms that contribute to the functioning of the human body. Topics include the cardiovascular system and components of plasma, blood vessels and circulation, the lymphatic system and immunity, respiration and gas exchange, digestive structures and processes and metabolism and energetics, urinary system and electrolyte and acid-base balance, human reproduction and development, homeostatic structures, and the relationship between body systems and underlying structures. (Multiple-choice examination.)
